Ryan, loved your Top 10 list! Do you have a handy list of all the ones you read?

Beautiful. I have a sneaky suspicion our bookshelves have a lot of overlap.

I’ve already started, like I said, with Washington. My motivation is to write reviews and little essays about things that I find interesting in a history book or biography. I haven’t gotten the book about Adams yet so will probably just read a second book about Washington. Great post!

That's great! I look forward to your reviews. I am considering reading His Excellency by Joseph Ellis about Washington. It would be nice to go back and review Washington since it has been a couple of years.

And thanks! It’s nice to know you look forward to my work; people do not understand that writing fiction AND nonfiction is really hard. I’ve slept in until 2pm after binge reading for a biographical post. I’m considering really pushing the tip jar option because of this but still can’t find a definitive answer as to whether Substack allows one

That’s the one I just read. I have 3 other options about Washington to choose from. A couple on my kindle. Maybe I’ll become an expert on Washington. Haha

Wow! I'm impressed. One a month is amazing.

First, I'm Canadian and a lover of history. I took on the project of reading a bio of every American president back in August 2016. I'm currently reading about TR and Taft. It's been fascinating learning about the history along the way.

I relied very heavily on Stephen Floyd's lists to choose my titles. I went primarily with ebooks due to issues of both cost and availability. Many of those were purchased when they were discounted for a day. I purchased a few physical copies at a book fair that is offered annually by our local symphony association as a fundraiser.

My reading led me to do more reading around the lead up to the Civil War, during and Reconstruction. Another subject I would like to read some more about is period surrounding the acquisition of New Mexico, Texas, California, etc under Polk. It seems to me that addition of a huge amount of territory was a key element in creating circumstances that led to the Civil War.

I read a lot of history about events and people around the world and enjoyed a lot of that in the midst of this ongoing project.

Thank you for your posts and insights.

Awesome! Another hard thing about doing this project in a relatively short time frame, is reading through history like this opens up so many more rabbit holes to go down. Now that I am finished witht his project, I can turn to some other historical books and biographies of other historical figures. So much to learn!
